DENVER––The East Lincoln High School Mustangs are chomping at the bit to go back to school.

Dr. Nathan McLean, the school’s principal, told The Herald more Tuesday. When school starts back tomorrow (Aug. 14), the student body will be just less than 1,090 pupils, as McLean informed.

“With the start of a new school year,” he said, “I am thrilled to welcome our students back to campus. Their energy, curiosity and passion for learning are what make our school community so great and why we, as educators, come to work every day. We’re excited to see them grow, achieve and create lasting memories this year. Together, we’re going to make this our best year yet!”

McLean also looked to his school’s goals for the 2024-25 year.

“Things to accomplish,” he said, include “continuing to work on updating and upgrading our building by adding murals, painting areas in need and looking to add shade to our picnic area, to name just a few things. Our PTSO (parent-teacher-student organization) has been an integral part of this process and has assisted in recruiting parents and students, and we will continue looking for those in the community willing to help. In addition to campus beautification, we are looking for others to get involved in supporting the school through volunteering, mentoring or supporting one of our booster programs. If individuals want to help support ELHS in these areas, or if someone would like to help, they can go to our Website and click the ‘get involved’ button or give the school a call.”

That Website is www.lcsnc.org/o/elhs, and the telephone number is (704) 736-1860.
