CHERRYVILLE, N.C. - Ethel Kathleen Williams Carpenter, age 93, of Cherryville, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at her daughters home.

Ethel was born in Lincoln County on November 8, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Lester C. "Coot" Williams and Nannie Frances Houser Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James William Carpenter, three brothers, James "Bunt", Dock, and Howard Williams and one sister Louise Green. Ethel was a faithful member of Plainsview Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher. Ethel will be remembered as a lady who loved excitement and adventure. Whether she was parasailing or ziplining in her 70's and 80's, or going vacations with her family. Ethel sense of adventure as well as her contagious smile and laughter will truly be missed by everyone who knew her.

Left to cherish the memory of this amazing lady is her two daughters, Linda Moreau of Cherryville and Retia Shronce and husband Dale of Cherryville; one sister, Dorothy Upton of Cherryville; two grandchildren, Lisa Clayton Pritchard and her husband Jerry, Jimmy Moreau and his wife Stephanie; six great-grandchildren, Kayla Pritchard and her fiancé Wesley, Zach Pritchard, Alyssa, Ethan, and Evan Moreau, and Bristal Pritchard; one sister-in-law, Della Alexander Williams; special family, Ed Carpenter, Shirley Alexander, Penny Newton, and Nancy Freeman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews as well and other extended family and friends.

The family received friends on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

A funeral service to remember the life of Ethel was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at Plainsview Baptist Church with the Rev, Wayne Key and Rev. Trey Newton officiating. Burial followed the service in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.
