Floyd William “Billy” King Jr

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Floyd William “Billy” King Jr., known as “Billy” to those who loved him, at home among family. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on May 18, 1942, he was the beloved son of the late Floyd William King, Sr. and Mary Gaskin.
Billy’s life was marked by an infectious sense of humor, boundless joy, and a spirit that could light up any room. Whether telling stories, cracking jokes, or sharing laughter, he had a special way of making everyone feel like family. A painter by trade, Billy had a gift for creating beauty with his hands. In his later years, he found peace and joy in building birdhouses, which became a reflection of his creativity and love for simplicity. But above all, his greatest joy came from being surrounded by his family. Billy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His love for his family was immeasurable, and his presence was a constant source of comfort and strength to all who knew him.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Claudette Smith; and his beloved daughter, Tammy Walker, all of whom hold a special place in his heart that will never fade.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Frances King; his son, Ronnie King and daughter-in-law, Alisha King; granddaughters, Chasity (Tanner Hildreth) and Shawna (Kyle Moore); and three great-grandchildren, Macelee, Finlee, and Cooper. He also leaves behind his daughter Kathy Swaney; grandsons, Josh Oliver (great-granddaughter, Makayla Oliver), Chris King (great-grandson, Isiah King), and Shane Oliver (great-grandson, Caleb Oliver); along with two great-great-grandchildren. Tammy’s children; Tim, Kim, Scottie, Crystal and Billy, and multiple great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear brother, Earnest King, his wife Tracy, and their son, Cody King, and granddaughter.
A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Sunday, March 30th at 3:00 PM, at the home of Billy’s granddaughter, Shawna Moore, in Vale. His family invites all who knew him to join them as they celebrate the laughter, love, and memories that will live on in their hearts forever. Billy’s absence leaves a hole in the hearts of all who loved him, but his legacy of joy, kindness, and love will continue to shine brightly through his family. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society – American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
