James Dewey King Jr.
March 15, 1946 – September 29, 2024
NEWTON, N.C. - James Dewey King Jr., 78, of Newton passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory.
He was born March 15, 1946 in Cabarrus County to the late James Dewey King Sr. and Martha Kistler Bowles. James was of the Baptist faith and retired from Dupont. He was an avid lover of U. S. history, travel and weather. James was a lifetime member of the Harley owner’s group and former chief of the Union Volunteer Fire Department.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters Jennifer King Smith and husband Mike of Rockwell, Shelia King Witt of Rockwell, Susan King Black and husband Casey of Rockwell; grandchildren Payton Black, Matthew Burroughs, Cameron Black, Gavin Witt, Jason Burroughs, and Addyson Witt; granddogs Winston, Gideon, Ivan, Fiona, Reece, and Ella.
A memorial service to celebrate James’ life will be held at a later date.
