DENVER, N.C. - James J. Loftin, 86, of Denver, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Stanley Total Living Center.

He was born April 9, 1938 in Gaston County to the late Clarence L. Loftin and Isabell Carnes Loftin. James was a 1956 graduate of Mount Holly High School, and a proud mason for 64 years. He retired from Westport Golf Course, as a distribution manager at Hartz Mountain Pet Supply, and as a distribution supervisor at CommScope. James was a former A&P Warehouse Manager and loved Yorkie Terriers. He enjoyed boating on Lake Norman and RVing to Apache Family Campground.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Joey Loftin and Jimmy Loftin; granddaughter, Jaclyn Loftin Woodard; brother, Don Loftin; and sister, Vertie Loftin.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years Glenda Robinson Loftin; sons Scott Loftin and wife Cherie of Sherrills Ford, Blake Loftin and wife Shere of Denver; brother Clarence Loftin Jr. of Newland; sisters Margaret Loftin Rankin of Stanley, Lejean Loftin Wyatt of Mount Holly; grandchildren Brad Loftin of Columbia, S.C., Ryan Loftin and fiancé Lynn Lovelace of Lincolnton, Tyler Loftin of Iron Station, Nick Loftin and fiancé Emily Ragan of Lincolnton, Jay Loftin of Shaw Air Force Base, S.C.; grandson-in-law Justin Woodard of Selma; and great-grandchildren Jaden Woodard, Parker Woodard, Grace Loftin, and Poppy Lynn Loftin.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stanley Total Living Center for the professional care, love, and respect they provided James over the past several months, and the continued care they provide for Glenda; Dorothy Comely for the care she provided over the past year; the neighbors of Love Point on Lake Norman for watching over James and Glenda; Father Ron at St. Peter by-the-Lake for his prayers and support; the staff at Atrium Health-Lincoln; and the staff of Bennett Funeral Service.

A private family service to celebrate James’ life will be held at St. Peter by-the-Lake in Denver. Rev. Dr. Ronald B. Taylor will officiate.
