The Jeff Little Trio will perform a concert on Oct. 25.

The place to be that Friday evening at 7:30 is the First Assembly Church, located at 777 S. Myrtle School Road in Gastonia, according to Tony Giacobbe. A spokesman for the Gaston Concert Association, Giacobbe recently told The Herald more. He explained that the trio’s concert is the second in the GCA’s 2024-25 season.

Little is an award-winning musician from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. With few exceptions, the piano does not play a prominent part in Appalachian or Americana music, and it’s rarely the lead instrument. But Little is an exception and a remarkable one. He has not only been recognized as a critically acclaimed musician but also a true innovator in acoustic music.

Little stays busy travelling the country performing concerts with an energy and dedication to his music that is evident at every show. Performance venues include the Smithsonian Institution, the National Folk Festival, American Piano Masters, MerleFest and many more around the country.

Little has been featured on National Public Radio and PBS many times and has also taken his music around the world for the United States Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, performing in France, Ceylon, Bahrain and Tanzania. In 2014, he was inducted into the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame. He is also the artist in residence for the popular music program at Catawba College in Salisbury.

Little is joined by Steve Lewis on the acoustic guitar, banjo and vocals and Luke Little on the mandolin.

Tickets are $30 each. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the show follows half an hour later. See the Website at www.gastonconcerts.org to purchase tickets.
