Jimmy “Jim” Earl Yancey
October 3, 1941 – October 7, 2024
MAIDEN, N.C. - Jimmy “Jim” Earl Yancey, 83, of Maiden, passed away unexpectedly Monday, October 7, 2024.
Born October 3, 1941 in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Johnny Earl Yancey and Myrtle Weaver Yancey. Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an active member of Cornerstone Church in Maiden.
Jim always had a smile on his face and a joy in his heart that touched everyone he came in contact with. He was a sports enthusiast, faithfully cheering on his Atlanta Braves and Duke Blue Devils. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He took great care of the humming birds and other birds that visited his numerous feeders.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years Patricia “Pat” Yancey of the home; daughter Melissa Rose of Claremont; two sons Jimmy E. Yancey Jr. of Maiden, Danny Yancey and wife Crystal of Sherrills Ford; two brothers Bill Yancey and wife Faye of Maiden, Johnny Yancey and wife Freida of Maiden; sister Frances “Sis” Helms of Newton; five grandchildren Kyle Rose, Jordan Rose, Madison Yancey, Savannah Yancey, and Avery Yancey; five great-grandchildren Levi Rose, Veronica Rose, Oliver Welch, Mia Welch, and Amelia Donovan/
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, October 10, 2014 at 5 p.m. at Cornerstone Church in Maiden with Rev. Greg Dry officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday, from 3:30-4:45 p.m., at the church, prior to the service.
