LCSO Taking Applications For Upcoming Citizen's Police Academy Course
LINCOLNTON, N.C. - The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is currently taking applications for the upcoming Citizen's Police Academy. The course is for citizens interested in how the Sheriff's Office serves the community.
The academy is open to all individuals aged 18 and over who work or reside in Lincoln County. This year’s academy class will be held every Tuesday from 6-8:30 p.m. from September 3, 2024, to November 19, 2024. Participants will be able to engage with their Sheriff’s Office, receive lectures, and participate in practical hands-on training enabling a unique insight into the field of law enforcement.
Topics of Instruction include Sheriff’s Office Duties, Use of Force, Law Enforcement Communications, Traffic Enforcement, Court Security Operations, Special Operations (SWAT, Dive Team, Land Search, Crisis Negotiations, and Drone Team), Criminal Investigations, and detention center operations.
Applications are available online at www.lincolnsheriff.link/2024app or may be picked up in person at the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office located at 700 John Howell Memorial Dr. Lincolnton, NC. All applicants will be subject to a National Crime Computer background check and applicants with a significant criminal history will be rejected. The Sheriff retains sole discretion on excluding applicants from the program.
