Obituary
LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Mary Jo “Penny” Nixon Burris, 76, of Lincolnton transitioned peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.
She was born in Lincoln County on December 2, 1947 to the late Kemp Battle Nixon and Dorothy Lee Glover Nixon.
Mary received her formal education at Newbold High School and Gaston College. She retired from the Timken Company. Mary was a faithful member of Tabernacle of Blessings.
Funeral service is Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Providence Missionary Baptist Church with burial to follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. There will be a public walk through on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
