Notice of Discharge of Untreated Sewage Sept. 26-28

The City of Newton experienced a discharge of untreated wastewater from the wastewater collection system at 1369 McKay Road from 1 p.m. Sept. 26 to 6:23 a.m. Sept. 28. An estimated 309,000 gallons were discharged. The discharge occurred during heavy rain that overloaded the wastewater collection system. The discharge entered Clark Creek in the Catawba River Basin. This notice was required by North Carolina General Statute Article 21, Chapter 143.215C. For more information, contact Dusty Wentz, City of Newton Director of Public Utilities, at (828) 695-4286.
