KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Mrs. Pat Taylor Carpenter, 82, of the Mary's Grove Community, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024 at her home.

Pat was born on January 16, 1942 in Gaston County a daughter of the late Rev. Thomas D. Taylor and Winter Jean Bagwell Taylor. She was owner and operator of Carpenter Florist. Pat was a member of First Baptist Church in Cherryville. In her early years she was a member of Plainsview Baptist Church in Lawndale for 50 years. She was a member of the choir, serving at various times as Sunday school teacher for the youth, primary class and also Mission Friends. Pat served the church in various capacities including, treasurer and secretary of the WMU, church history committee, nominating committee, Pastor search committee, flower and decorations committee. She worked 26 years in Vacation Bible School as various teachers and craft leader. Her husband told her she could go to school all she wanted, but he didn't want her to work. She only worked for seven years at public work. Pat earned her G.E.D. from Cleveland Community College. Also taking courses in nurse assistance, sewing classes, photography, landscaping, interior decorating, floral designs in Charlotte. She also received a license in Cosmetology from Shelby Beauty College.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J.P. Carpenter; sisters, Joyce Earl and Geneva Scruggs; brothers, Rev. Bobby Taylor, Ed Taylor, and Daniel Taylor.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Haskett and husband Tim of Kings Mountain; two sons, Steve Carpenter and wife Terri of Southport and Daniel Carpenter and wife Jennifer of Stoneville; grandchildren, Steven Carpenter, Kimberly C. Falls (Clint), Karen C. Ader (Vince), Samuel Carpenter, Andrew Haskett, Joseph Haskett (Mary Bryce), Samantha H. Pepper (Luke), Taylor Carpenter, James Carpenter, Eli Carpenter, Issac Carpenter, Nick Bason (Chelsey), and Zach Bason (Jennifer); great grandchildren, Beckett Falls, Aurora Falls, J.H. Pepper, Leigh Elizabeth Pepper, James “J.P.” Haskett, and Archer Bason; brother, David Taylor; sisters, Dott Crotts, Helen Eaker (Hugh), and Sue Jones (Bill); as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, October 14, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Cherryville with Dr. Vince Hefner officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Fallston.
