HICKORY, N.C. - Raquel Marinelli, 84, of Hickory passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at her home.

She was born January 30, 1940 in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Raquel is survived by three daughters, Aida Marinelli of Guatemala City, Guatemala, Ingrid Marinelli of Downey, Calif., and Patricia Marinelli of Newton; two sons, Juan Carlos Marinelli of Guatemala City, Guatemala and Jaime Marinelli of Hickory; six grandchildren, William Hernandez, Alexis Gomez, Danny Valenzuela, Josue Gomez, Alice Gomez, Kathy Valenzuela, and Jesse Gomez; and one great-granddaughter, Alana Hernandez.

She was preceded in death by her mom, Aida Marinelli; and her sister, Letty Marinelli.

Raquel loved her family. She traveled frequently between Guatemala, California, and North Carolina to spend time with all of her children and grandchildren. She made many friends everywhere she went and always made others laugh. Raquel enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She always had a sewing or crochet project to work on and gifted her creations. Her heart was full of kindness, love, and joy. She was lovingly known in the family as the queen, La Reina de los Marinelli’s. Her love and her laugh will always be remembered.

The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Rd., Newton, NC 28658. Burial  followed at Catawba Memorial Park, 3010 US-70, Newton, NC 28658.

The family received friends from 12-1 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 and held a memorial service at 1 p.m., at Jenkins Funeral Home, 4081 Startown Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
