LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Terry Gene Helms, age 64, of Tripple H Lane in Lincolnton, passed in his building “happy place” doing what he loved, on Monday, August 26, 2024.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024, in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Preacher Fred Helms Jr. officiating.  The family briefly spoke with friends following the service.  A Celebration of Life service was held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at The Springs Church with Bishop David Caldwell and Pastor Chris Doster officiating.

Terry was born July 8, 1960, in Lincoln County, to Hazel Smith Helms.  He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Austin Helms Sr. and “Nana”, Velma Childers.  Terry worked as a textile mechanic. 

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Childers Helms of the home; sons, Jason Helms (Cherie) of Claremont, and John Austin Helms (Hali) of Maiden; brother, Fred Austin Helms Jr. of Lincolnton; sisters, Tammy Tessner and Mary Hullett, both of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, Jacob, Elijah, Adali, Gavin, and Gage; and his mother, Hazel Helms of Lincolnton.
