William Henry Lewis
January 15, 1935 – October 9, 2024
SHERRILLS FORD, N.C. - William Henry Lewis, 89, of Sherrills Ford, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at N.C. State Veterans Home in Salisbury.
He was born January 15, 1935 in Edgecomb County to the late George and Lula Peele Lewis. William was a member of Westport Baptist Church in Denver and a United States Navy veteran. He retired as the general manager from Ramada Inn in Charlotte and enjoyed gardening with his wife, doing construction work with his son, and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laura S. Lewis; brothers, Jesse Lewis and George Lewis Jr.; and sisters, Irene L. Turco, Helen L. Wilson, Melba L. Dew, Carolyn L. Sutton, and Phyllis L. Ratcliff.
Those left to cherish his memory is his son Mark Lewis and wife Laurie of Claremont; sister Sonya L. Viverette of Rocky Mount; grandchildren Lindsay A. Lewis and Jeremy W. Lewis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A combined memorial service to celebrate William and his wife Laura’s life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Westport Baptist Church in Denver. Pastor Steve Owenby will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center at Westport Baptist Church.
