LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Susan Mercer Miles went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2024 after a long illness.

Susan was born on June 15, 1953 in Charleston W.Va. to Carl and Jean Mercer.

She attended Virginia Tech where she received a BS in Dietary Nutrition. She worked as a sales rep for Abbott Laboratories in Indianapolis and Pittsburgh before settling in Charlotte. She was employed as head of the dietary department at Charlotte Rehabilitation Hospital for many years and then later worked as Director of Telecommunications at Carolinas Medical Center. She met her future husband, Paul Miles in Charlotte and together they cared for a menagerie of animals for many years on their farm in Lincolnton.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband Paul T. Miles; and her father Carl B. Mercer.

She is survived by her mother, Jean Hatfield Mercer, of South Charleston, W.Va.; brothers Wayne (Elizabeth) of Charlotte and Chris (Judy) of South Charleston, W.Va. She is also survived by a nephew, Chandler Mercer of Charlotte; two nieces, Sophie Mercer Doerring (Chris) of Charlotte and Kristin Mercer Thompson (Ben) of Charleston, W.Va.

Susan loved the Lord, her family, and her many pets and horses. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wendover Hospice House, 953 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby NC, 28150
