Sports Scores & Schedules

The East Lincoln soccer team scored five goals in each half to win 10-1 Tuesday over Lake Norman Charter. LNC has had some very good teams in the past, but this year, they're winless in five games. East is now 3-2-2 and begins conference play Thursday hosting North Lincoln.

North tied Lincoln Charter Tuesday 2-2. North is now 4-1-1; Lincoln Charter is 5-1-2. The Eagles play at Forest Hills (Marshville) on Thursday. [More on this game will be included in our Friday 9/9 sports article.]

Lincolnton lost to St. Stephens. Coach Brad Bagan told us: "Our lone goal was by Santiago Vargas. We started decent, let in a goal early and then felt sorry for ourselves the rest of the first half and let in 7 more before we got one back; looked better out of the break, but by that time it was too late. We gave up a free kick in a bad area and they finished us off. This leaves us 0-4-1 with conference play starting next week and it's time to either step up and stop letting ourselves get bullied all over the field or it's gonna be a long season." The Wolves will host Bunker Hill on Monday (Sept. 12th). The Bears are 1-3 after losing at Alexander Central Tuesday. They host Hibriten on Thursday before coming to LHS on Monday.

Maiden downed Draughn 8-2 to improve to 4-3 on the year. The Blue Devils will host East Burke Monday in their first conference match.

Bandys, 5-0 this season, will play at Alexander Central on Wednesday, then at West Rowan Thursday. The Trojans will host West Lincoln next Monday.

Fred T. Foard beat South Point 2-1 Tuesday. The 3-2-1 Tigers play at St. Stephens Thursday and host East Burke on Friday.

West Lincoln (2-4) will host R-S Central Thursday.

VOLLEYBALL

East Lincoln is now 1-2 in the Western Foothills Conference after a 3-0 loss at North Iredell (25-8, 25-14, 25-9). For the Raiders, it was their 11th win of the season without a loss. East will host North Lincoln on Thursday.

North llost at West Iredell on Tuesday 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-17).  

Lincoln Charter won 3-0 at Langtree Charter Tuesday (25-9, 25-16, 25-10). The Eagles will visit Bradford Prep in Charlotte Wednesday, then host Christ the King on Thursday.

Lincolnton lost at Bandys Tuesday 3-0 (25-2, 25-12, 25-11). They'll host West Caldwell Thursday.

West Lincoln beat Bunker Hill Tuesday 3-2 ; no score was reported. The Rebels host Newton-Conover Thursday.

Maiden beat West Caldwell Tuesday 3-0 (25-6, 25-13, 25-7). The Blue Devils will play at Bandys Thursday. Bandys also has a Wednesday match at Alexander Central.

Cherryville improved to 7-2 with a 3-0 win over Bessemer City (25-12, 25-10, 25-19).

Fred T. Foard hosted Hickory Tuesday; no score was reported.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GOLF

In middle school golf action on Tuesday afternoon at Deerbrook Golf Club, the East Lincoln MIddle School golf team came away with a win. The teams involved were East Lincoln, Burns, North Lincoln, and KIngs Mountain Middle Schools. The final team scores were ELMS- 154, Burns- 187, NLMS- 189, and KMMS- 203.
Warren Stiglitz of ELMS was the medalist with a 2-under par score of 34, followed closely by teammates Brandon Bolinger and Carter Bolinger with scores of 36 and 37, respectively. Other teammates include Kennedy Gallantine, Zac Phillips, Aaron Thomas, Hensleigh Stamey, and Riley McNair.The next scheduled match for ELMS will be next Tuesday at Kings Mountain. NLMS will be in action next Tuesday as they  host a match at Glen Oaks Golf Club in Maiden.
