LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A Lincoln County man has been charged with animal cruelty after Sheriff’s deputies assisted Lincoln County Animal Services with a search warrant on property on North Brook Number Three School Road in Vale, N.C.

The property is owned by Clayton Robert Tallent, 41, of Tallent Road, Vale, NC.  During the execution of the search warrant several livestock were found deceased and others malnourished.  The search warrant was the result of a number of complaints about livestock being allowed to run at large in which Mr. Tallent was written several civil citations and misdemeanor criminal charges.

After executing the search warrant, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office assisted Lincoln County Animal Services with removing the livestock from the property.  Mr. Tallent was charged with two counts of felony cruelty to animals and two counts of misdemeanor allowing livestock to run at large.  The warrants have not been served.
