LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives was sworn in as a Special Deputy with the U.S. Marshal Service Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

Terry Burgin, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of North Carolina, swore in Detective Frank Runyon as a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal assigned to the Carolina Regional Fugitive Task Force. Runyon will continue in his role as a full-time Lincoln County Sheriff’s detective while serving on the task force.

During the ceremony, Burgin said, “I have sworn in a number of Special Deputy U.S. Marshals, serving in various roles, but this is the first in Lincoln County.”  Burgin went on to say, “this day will become a part of law enforcement history for the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office under the leadership of Sheriff Bill Beam.  Sheriff Beam is to be commended for having assigned a member of his department to the Task Force.  He (Sheriff Beam) committed one employee and in return will get a force multiplier with many resources.”

Sheriff Beam will have continuous communications and information sharing capabilities with the best of all the regional task forces in the Investigative Operations Division of U.S. Marshal’s Service.

Detective Frank Runyon has been with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office since 2007.
