Billy Gene Rhoney

October 26, 1937 - September 17, 2023


VALE, N.C. - Billy Gene Rhoney, 85, of Old Shelby Road, Vale, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center, Hickory.

Born in Catawba County, on October 26, 1937, he was a son of the late Boyd Rhoney and Catherine Rudisill Rhoney. He was retired from Estes Freight Lines as a truck driver and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Bill also proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers, Gerald, Jackie, Larry, and Glenn Rhoney.

He is survived by two sons Chris Rhoney and Scott Rhoney both of Vale; a daughter, Carol Williams and husband Nathan of Vale; a sister, Annette Hull and husband Leonard of Vale; six grandchildren, Summer Dameron and husband Jackie, Sabrina Williams, Matthew Rhoney and Landon Bell, Meredith Isenhour and husband Landon, Ethan Rhoney and Ayden Rhoney; and five great-grandchildren, Nataleigh Williams, Harper Dameron, Houston Dameron, Hunter Curtis and Hallie Curtis.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 from 3-4 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 4 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Plott officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
