Lincoln County Man Arrested On Child Sexual Assault Charges
LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A Lincoln County man has been arrested on child sexual assault charges after an investigation that began as a child abuse case.
Carl David Holt, 66, of Magnet Lane, Stanley, NC was arrested on February 5, 2024, on the charges. The investigation began in October of 2023 after the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible child abuse. The child abuse investigation uncovered allegations of sexual assault.
The victims in the case are known to Holt and were juveniles at the time the incidents occurred.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Detective K. Harrington charged Holt on February 5, 2024, and brought him to the Lincoln County magistrate’s office where warrants for four counts of indecent liberties with a child and two counts of statutory sexual offense were served. Holt was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond but was then ordered held under a no bond hold until a judge could set an additional bond. On February 6, 2024, Holt appeared before a District Court judge who set an additional $10,000 secured bond.
Holt remains in jail under a total $40,000 secured bond.
