CATAWBA, N.C. - Grace Kirksey Taylor, 85, of Catawba, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Carolina Caring Sherrills Ford Hospice House.

She was born October 21, 1938 in Catawba County to the late Victor and Viola Holt Kirksey. Grace was retired and loved spending time helping others in any way she could. Before she became ill, she enjoyed sewing collector doll clothes, playing piano, cooking, planting/growing flowers and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee Taylor; brother, Floyd Kirksey and wife Dorothy; sister, Hazel Kirksey Sherrill and husband Clifford; and niece, Brenda Sherrill Wise.

Those left to cherish her memory is her daughter Angela Taylor Chitwood and husband William (Chip) of Catawba; grandchildren Hallie Grace Chitwood and Jonah Christopher Chitwood; nieces Donna Thompson and husband Larry of Conover, Carol Lambert and husband Hubert of Lincolnton; Samuel Sherrill and wife Elizabeth of Sherrills Ford; and several great-nieces and great nephews.

A service to celebrate Grace’s life will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. Rev. Warren Marcum and Rev. Timothy Porter will officiate. Burial will follow at Mathis Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Catawba. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-1:45 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service. Those serving as pallbearers will be Jonah Chitwood, Hubert Lambert, Michael Lambert, Darin Earl, Steve Carpenter, and Matt Keller.
