LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A traffic stop for a moving violation has led to a Lincolnton woman being charged with drug violations.
On January 19, 2024, Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies conducted the traffic stop in the 500 block of South Aspen Street in Lincolnton, NC. During the traffic stop, K-9 handler Manns and K-9 Oden were requested to come to the location reference conducting a free air sniff around the vehicle.
K-9 Oden alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted by LCSO deputies. During the search officers seized 13 and a half ounces of methamphetamine, 13 grams of marijuana and a firearm.
The driver of the vehicle, Cynthia Marie Hornbeck, 50, of Catawba Street, Lincolnton, NC was charged with felony trafficking methamphetamine by possession and transport, felony maintaining a dwelling/vehicle for a controlled substance, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of controlled substance Schedule II (Oxycodone) and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center. Hornbeck has been released on a $50,000 secured bond.
