LINCOLNTON, N.C. - James Burton Wood, age 76, of Burton Wood Lane in Lincolnton, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Bill Melton officiating. 

Mr. Wood was born May 2, 1948, in Lincoln County, to the late Craig Luther Wood and Dolores LaRue Wood.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Craig Luther Wood Jr.  James served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, later retiring from the Army Reserve.  He worked and retired as a public safety officer in Barrow, Alaska.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mitsuko Tomiya Wood of the home; sister, Betty Wood Chu (John) of Hoboken, N.J.; brother, Joseph Wood (Kyong) of Lincolnton; nephews, Garrett Chu, David Wood, Stephen Wood, and Christopher Wood; nieces, Maria Wood and Mary Wood; and sister-in-law, Deborah Wood.

Warlick Funeral Home of Lincolnton, N.C. is serving the Wood family.
