DENVER––She’s simply the best.

She is Grace Harpster, and she is the valedictorian of the class of 2024 at East Lincoln High School. The daughter of Randy and Jennifer Harpster, she is also the sister of Cooper Harpster, a rising high school sophomore. The family has two dogs: Axl and Slash.

The valedictorian is seen here with her immediate family: parents Randy and Jennifer Harpster and, on the left, brother Cooper Harpster.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Miss Harpster and her family moved to Denver when she was in the fourth grade, as she told us recently.

She also talked about her years at ELHS. Her favorite class was AP literature. The faculty members who most influenced her were math teachers Jason and Sarah Dragoon and English teacher Christina McClain.

Harpster participated in soccer, basketball, the National Honor Society, the English National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, the Beta Club and more, according to her proud mom.

Harpster excelled in soccer at ELHS.

“Grace spent so much of her time year-round playing travel soccer with some of her best friends,” Mrs. Harpster recalled. “But in her free time, you would find Grace having fun on the lake with her friends. Her favorite hobbies are wake surfing and snowboarding.”

Come August, Miss Harpster will be off the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She plans to major in biology and minor in business administration and kinesiology.

She is, she added, “looking to have a career in the medical field. I’m unsure of whether it will be PA (physician’s assistant) school or medical school at this time.”

Ten years hence, Harpster hopes to be serving others in the medical field and finding a home to settle down in and raise a family some day.

And the valedictorian offered some good advice to the class of ’24.

“Work hard,” she said, “and always put your best foot forward. Laugh every day and show genuine love and compassion to everyone. Live in the present, and never take today for granted. The decisions you make today will build a stronger tomorrow.”

Harpster is joined by her soccer teammates.

Harpster, on the far right, is joined by her friends for East Lincoln’s prom.

(L-R) It’s an East Lincoln first! Harpster surfs in her cap and gown. In Charlotte, Harpster models her cap and gown. The happy grad tosses her mortarboard into the air.
