Christian Ministry of Lincoln County is preparing for its annual golf fundraiser. According to executive director Mitzi Williams, the 29th annual Christian Ministry Golf Tournament will be held Aug. 10 at the Lincoln Country Club.

“All proceeds go to Christian Ministry,” Williams said Thursday. “It’s time to start preparing for our golf tournament––even if you don’t play golf!”

She added that there are several ways you can help support the ministry in this effort. You can donate gift certificates or merchandise to be used as prizes. You can sponsor a golf hole for $100 each, and the ministry will place a sign at the hole with your name on it. You can sponsor a team from your church or business to play.

Volunteers needed now

In other news, summer’s here, and the time is right for volunteering at the ministry.

“Now is the time to sign up your group or your teenager to volunteer with us this summer!” Williams enthused. “We have lots of opportunities.”

Relatedly, the soup kitchen needs volunteers to help serve during the week. If you can help, call Gina Maier at (704) 740-8889 or the office at (704) 732-0383.

Plus, the soup kitchen has a wish list. Needed items include gallon and quart-sized storage freezer bags, barbecue sauce and pepper packs. The most-needed items for the pantry are crackers, peanut butter, breakfast foods, detergent, bar soap and toilet paper.
