LINCOLNTON––Christian Ministry of Lincoln County had a unique set of helpers this week.

That’s the word Thursday from executive director Mitzi Williams. As Williams informed, these people put their abilities to work for a worthy cause.

“On Monday,” she said, “we had a hairstylist come and give of her time and talents to offer free haircuts to anyone needing a haircut. We had several of our clients to participate.

“On Thursday of this week, we received a tractor-trailerload of produce from Second Harvest Food Bank,” she continued. “We spread the word on social media and throughout the week. The produce was free, and no paperwork or interviewing was needed. In a little less than an hour, we saw several-hundred people come through the line. Thank you to the volunteers that helped us give out the produce, and thank you to our neighbors and community for bearing with us when the traffic was bad, and the road may have been blocked.”

Also on Thursday, as Williams noted, members of Lake Norman Baptist Church donated undergarments to the ministry’s clothing closet.

“A huge thank you to them,” she added.

In other news, Williams said the ministry could use some volunteer help this summer.

“It’s getting closer to summer vacation from school,” she said. “If you and or your church or student ministry would like to help volunteer this summer, at any time, now is the time to start scheduling this on our calendar.”
