Anga Whittington Pruette
HICKORY, N.C. - Anga Whittington Pruette, 73, of Hickory, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024 at Carolina Caring in Newton.
She was born May 3, 1950 in Caldwell County to the late Clyde Luther Whittington and Grace Rachel Bryant Whittington. Anga was a member of Grace Tabernacle Church in Hickory and retired as a nursing educator. She enjoyed going to church, listening to southern gospel music, and having gospel singings at her house. Anga looked forward to red hatting with her friends, going to the mountains, and reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Larry Daniel Pruette; and sisters, Lynne Crump and Shelley Johnson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Lance Pruette and wife Brandy of Hilderbrand, Paul Pruette and wife Emily of Hickory; daughter Hannah Gunter and husband Allen of Claremont; sister Karen Whittington of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandchildren Chassity Smith, Elisha Pruette, Joshua Pruette, Andrew Pruette, Gabriel Gunter, and Savannah Gunter; and great-grandchildren Garret Smith and Hadley Smith.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. A service to celebrate Anga’s life will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Lighthouse of Lenoir. Rev. Allen Gunter will officiate. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Lenoir. Those serving as pallbearers will be Lance Pruette, Paul Pruette, Elisha Pruette, Joshua Pruette, William Lipscomb, and Gabriel Gunter.
