LINCOLNTON––Christian Ministry is expressing its gratitude to its recent “Amazing Race” bingo participants.

Christian Ministry Executive Director Mitzi Williams said thanks Thursday, citing last week’s first-ever bingo game that raised more than $5,000 for the LINC Home-Delivered Meals Program. She also thanked Rev. Judy Drysdale and the members of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lincolnton for allowing bingo participants to use their fellowship hall.

“The Lincoln County Picklers brought in the most money,” said Williams, citing more than $3,000 raised. “They were the winners of the trophy this year!”

In other news, Williams cited this Saturday’s (May 11) big event: the annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive that is co-sponsored by the National Association of Letter-Carriers.  

“Donating is easy,” she said. “Customers should leave their non-perishable food donations in bags near their mailboxes on Saturday, May 11, before their letter-carriers arrive.”

Food collected during Saturday’s drive will be delivered to local community churches, food banks and food pantries for distribution. Whilst all non-perishable donations are welcome, foods that are high in protein, such as canned tuna, salmon, beans and peanut butter, are most needed. Canned fruits and vegetables, whole grain, low sugar cereals, macaroni and cheese dinners and 100-percent fruit juices also top the list of most needed items.
