MAIDEN, N.C. – Kay Walker Johnson, 77, of Maiden, passed away on May 7, 2024 at Abernathy Laurels in Newton. 

Kay was born on March 25, 1947 to the late Jacob Bill and Lois Inez Bollinger Mason in Catawba County.  In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her beloved first husband, Larry Earnest Walker; one daughter, Christy Melinda Walker; one brother, Jacob Bill Mason Jr.; and one sister, Linda Sue Mason Dixon. 

Kay was very close with her family and enjoyed family outings immensely.  She baby sat for her grandchildren and many other children through the years.  Kay loved to take care of children, and especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren.  She also loved shopping, traveling, and dancing.  Kay enjoyed attending church at Lawing's Chapel Baptist Church.

Kay is survived by her husband Fred Johnson; one son, William Earnest "Earnie" Walker and wife Monica; one daughter, Sherry Kimberly Walker Fish; three grandchildren Dalton Larry Fish and wife Mary, Kayly Shania Fish (Nick Thompson), and Tiffany Amber Walker Bradshaw and husband Joseph; five great-grandchildren Ruby Grace Thompson, Lucy Elizabeth Fish, Nora Jane Fish, Addaleigh Ruth Bradshaw, and Lucas Joey Bradshaw; one half-brother Christopher Scott Sanders; and many other cherished relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 2-3 p.m. at Lawing's Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden.  The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary of Lawing's Chapel Baptist Church.  Pastor Jason Canipe will be officiating.  Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
