LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Photos on a trail camera posted at a home building job site helped identify suspects in the theft of lumber from a location on Null Road.
On May 16, 2024 Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies received information from the owner of the construction company that a white truck was stealing lumber from the home under construction on Null Road. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a white in color Ford F150 on Hatchette Road loaded with lumber that was a suspect vehicle in the theft of lumber.
The victim told officers there had been two unreported thefts from the site on May 13, 2024 and May 14, 2024 and involved a white pickup truck. The photos on the camera showed identifying markings on the truck.
A search warrant was obtained for the property on Hatchett Road where officers recovered 110 pieces of lumber stolen in two previously unreported thefts. The lumber is valued at $1,500.
Two people in the truck were questioned in connection with the thefts. William Christopher Goins, 48, of Hatchett Road was charged with felony larceny. He was also served an outstanding warrant from Catawba County for failure to appear. Kimberly Bivens, 49, of Betterbrook Road was charged with felony larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Goins was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a no bond hold for Catawba County. Bivens was jailed under a 5,500 secured bond.
Officers investigating the thefts were Sgt. T. Chapman, Deputies Membreno and Stamey and Detective Perez.
